There are two paths that a porn star can go.
One is grow in popularity and exposure. Become more marketable and desirable. Jenna Jameson is the poster girl. This is like winning the lottery.
Far more common is that the more exposed they are, they less they get paid. After a year or two, if they are not on the “star” path, then they have used up their fresh face marketability. They then have to do more extreme scenes to make the same money.
